January Photo-a-Day: my month in pictures

Photo-a-Day: my month in pictures #january #photoaday #blog

Many many bloggers do this and I love these posts! Not that I'm nosy, but I love seeing how other people (especially if they have similar lifestyles - same job, same amount of kids, etc.) spend their time. Does that sound weird? Who knows! What I do know is that it's also been nice to take at least one picture a day and see what I actually spend my time doing. Apparently, January was the time of lots of food and cats and Erin Condren life planner organizing :) Without further ado...here's my January in pictures.

Erin Condren Life Planner Update

I'm not sure about y'all, but I am in love with planning and what not. I posted about my new Erin Condren life planner back when I got in the mail on my food blog as a Fantastical Friday post {here}. I had gotten my first EC life planner in late 2013 for the whole year of 2014. I was still experimenting with it and stalking other people's set ups. At the bottom of the post, I will leave my referral link, first time buyers get $10 off their order when they create an account and I get $10 to spend on the site. There is so much on it that I love and want :)

Bout of Books 12.0: Finish Line

Bout of Books

Goals:
  • Read a little every day - done!
  • Finish 1 book (that is my goal for 2015, one book a week!) - done!
  • Participate in some challenges - done!
End Results:
Books read:
The 5th Wave (The Fifth Wave, #1)Sky on Fire (Monument 14, #2)
Pages read: 406
Books finished: 1 (The Fifth Wave)
Final thoughts: I am really happy with my readathon results - I only did one challenge, but I was fine with that. I read each day, even if it was only a little bit. I finished one book, which is my goal in 2015 anyways. So I hit every target right on the mark!

2015 Series "Challenge"

I need to read the stuffing outta some book series. I'm currently in the middle of 65 series if you don't count the book I'm reading now that adds an additional series to that number. I would love to finish at least 10 series this year, but if I can manage more, that would be even better because I do plan on starting many new ones. Because I'm crazy. I am going to update the list with how many finished in the beginning of April and then each subsequent 3 months.

What series am I in the middle of?
Glad you asked :)

Bout of Books 12.0: Goals & Daily Updates

Bout of Books

I'm stunned that this is my 9th time participating in the Bout of Books readathon. In past years, I participated and posted on my old blog, but books and teachers go hand-in-hand and that's why I will be posting my goals and progress for this week's BOB and future BOBs here on Teacher's Pet. The hosts of BOB decided to take away the goals link up, but I still would like to post my goals. In the last few BOBs, I've gone much lower pressure because for me, it is now important to just READ! If I read at all this week, I've been successful :)

Goals:
  • Read a little every day
  • Finish 1 book (that is my goal for 2015, one book a week!)
  • Participate in some challenges
Daily Updates:
Sunday 1/11:
Currently reading:
The 5th Wave (The Fifth Wave, #1)Sky on Fire (Monument 14, #2)
Pages read: 49 + 10 (total: 406)
Books finished: 1
Thoughts/Challenges: Starting on p.395 today for the final day of BOB 12.0. I have about 50 pages left in The 5th Wave, which hopefully means I will finish having met all my goals for the week! YAY! 4pm Finished The 5th Wave and will begin Sky on Fire. :) I've officially met all my goals!

My January To-Be-Read List + Upcoming Releases + 2015 Goals

Because I have too many blogs to keep up with...I've decided to share my TBR, Upcoming Releases, and reading progress here on Teacher's Pet because I love to read and a lot of what I read is middle grade or YA and as I am working towards becoming a middle school teacher, it's relevant :) Many of the 8th graders during my in-class observations were reading books I've read or want to read and I wanted to sit down with them and just talk books. Of course, I'm sure my host teacher wouldn't have necessarily appreciated that during class, so I didn't! I'm pretty active on Goodreads, so please feel free to add me there and say you found me via my blog!

My new goal for 2015 is similar to last year, but different too. I am setting my yearly Goodreads challenge for 52 books - that's one a week. That is my goal this year: to finish one book a week. My monthly goals will be to read 2 books off my 2014 monthly TBR, 1 book of my choosing from my massive TBR shelf, and 1 series book. I will have a newborn soon (in Feb!?!) and then in the fall, I will be doing my student teaching, so I will definitely have a crazy year ahead. I'm not sure which will be worse for my reading progress: lack of sleep and a newborn or a very busy full day practice teaching gig.

Possible January Reads:
  • 1984 by George Orwell
  • Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter [new series] - 1/15
  • The Fifth Wave by Rick Yancey [new series] - 1/11
  • Graceling by Kristin Cashore [new series]
  • Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
  • The King by J.R. Ward

Vivian Apple at the End of the World (Vivian Apple, #1)Never NeverFrostfire (Kanin Chronicles, #1)All the Bright PlacesAlistair Grim's Odditorium (Odditorium, #1)All Fall Down (Embassy Row #1)The Empty Throne (Heirs of Chrior, #2)The Darkest Part of the ForestThe Magician's LieEnsnared (Splintered, #3)

But before I go completely...some questions for you all: What books are y'all reading this month? Any releases you are stoked for? What are your 2015 reading goals? Any books I need to have on my radar?
